Dexter Babin II is the former executive director of the Regional Military Museum in Houma, Louisiana, and currently teaches U.S. history courses at several institutions in Southeast Texas. His research interests include organized crime, political corruption, military history, and cinema's impact on popular memory. He has an upcoming article titled "Mobster Emeritus: The FBI and the Imaginary Structures of Organized Crime in New Orleans, 1950-1985," which is slated for publication in the journal Louisiana History. He is currently researching a book that focuses on organized crime in the Gulf South.
