About
Dr. Rosa Mack Dokes is an Assistant Professor of Teacher Education at Âé¶¹AV, where she teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in literacy education and teacher preparation. She also serves as chair of the Department Curriculum Committee, faculty co-sponsor of the Âé¶¹AV Student Education Association (LSEA), and a peer reviewer for multiple scholarly publications and textbook publishers. Prior to joining Âé¶¹AV, Dr. Dokes taught as an adjunct literacy professor at the University of Houston’s main campus.
Her research interests include literacy instruction, multimodal learning, digital literacies, reading achievement, and supporting diverse learners.
Before entering higher education full time, she dedicated two decades to K–12 education in Texas and Louisiana. She holds an ELA Texas teacher certificate with a supplemental ESL certification issued by the Texas Education Agency.
She holds a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Reading, Language Arts, and Literacy Education from the University of Houston, a Master of Arts in Education from Southern University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Secondary English Education from Southern University.
