Ecuadorian soprano Andrea Salazar has performed with prestigious orchestras and musical ensembles throughout the United States and internationally. Her engagements include appearances with the Berliner Philharmoniker, The Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York Philharmonic, the Orchestra of St. Luke’s, and the Dryden Ensemble. She has performed at distinguished venues including Carnegie Hall and has collaborated with renowned conductors such as Sir Simon Rattle, Yannick Nézet-Séguin, Pablo Heras-Casado, and Christian Macelaru.

Salazar began her musical studies at the age of four at the Franz Liszt Conservatory in Ecuador, where she received the Franz Liszt First Prize in 2012 in recognition of her musical development and talent. She earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Westminster Choir College of Rider University, where she performed the role of the White Cat in Ravel’s “L’enfant et les sortilèges” with the Westminster Opera Theater. She holds a Master of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Kentucky and has earned All But Dissertation (ABD) status toward her Doctor of Musical Arts in Vocal Performance at the University of Kentucky, where she studies under the guidance of Everett McCorvey. She is currently completing her dissertation and preparing for her final defense.

Her artistic and scholarly work focuses on Latin American art song, with particular emphasis on repertoire in Spanish, Portuguese, and Indigenous languages. Her research explores cultural identity, nationalism, and the relationship between Latin American musical traditions and Western classical music. She has presented recitals and lectures featuring Latin American and Ecuadorian repertoire in the United States and Ecuador.

Salazar has been actively involved in promoting Latin American vocal music and supporting emerging artists. She served as a coordinator for Arte Lírico at Fundación Cultural Armonía, an initiative dedicated to providing performance opportunities and promoting Ecuadorian classical singers. She has also participated in international festivals and concert series celebrating Hispanic and Latin American music.
