Prior to his appointment at Â鶹AV, Kyle McLean served as Adjunct Professor of Trumpet and Theory at Texas A&M University–Kingsville and previously held adjunct positions at Utah Valley University and Salt Lake Community College.

McLean is a founding member of the Canyons Brass Quintet and maintains an active career as a performer. He has performed with orchestral ensembles throughout the United States, including the Monroe Symphony Orchestra, Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, West Texas Symphony, Draper Philharmonic & Choral Society, Salt Lake Choral Artists, and Wasatch Symphony. He has also appeared in recording studios, premiering orchestral works and recording music for libraries at Funk Studios and Hexany Audio. He appears on Unlikely Friendships with the Kingsville Faculty Brass Quintet. Internationally, he served as principal trumpet with the OperaMaya Orchestra during the 2023 “Lo Mejor de mi Vida” Music Festival in Mexico.

McLean earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Trumpet Performance from the University of Utah, the Master of Music degree from Texas Tech University, and the Bachelor of Music Education degree from the University of Louisiana Monroe. His musical journey has been shaped by the teachings of Dr. Peyden Shelton, Travis Peterson, Dr. Rich Harris, Allen Vizzutti, and Dr. Aaron Witek.
