CAPM is dedicated to preparing port and marine terminal industry leaders for 21st century challenges and opportunities.Established through the foresight of the State of Texas, the Center supports the port industry and associated infrastructure with advanced education, as well as industry relevant research.

  • Continue to write and fund collaborative,and multi-disciplinary research proposals (i.e. Beneficial Use of Dredge Materials) that have sustainable industry, community, and navigational impact.
  • Serve with local agency leaders and pilots and contribute on a host of regional waterway safety and security boards, advisory councils, committees; (SE Texas Waterway Advisory Committee (SETWAC);Area Maritime Security Council (AMSC);Facility Security Officer (FSO); WGMA...)
  • Assist and provide financial incentive for professors to apply for externally funded maritime and port related research.
  • Scholastically partner with and continue to participate in National trade association conferences such as the American Association of Port Authorities (AAPA), Port of the Future (POTF), and the Gulf of America conferences.
  • Workforce Development - serve as maritime committee lead for the region and teach and sponsor Maritime Summer camps such as Camp Seaport.
  • Improve maritime policy and infrastructure while enhancing Âé¶¹AV's influence by contributing on national research coalitions (i.e. MARAD/ABS), Congressional innovation and advisory councils, National Defense transportation meetings, and safety boards.
  • Continue to partner with TXDOT Maritime and the Texas legislature by annually scoring and ranking 120+ Texas port infrastructure and dredging projects and assisting with the annually appropriated Port Mission Plan.
