Center for Midstream Management and Science Cardinal Compass

VISION

“Advance a smarter, safer, and more sustainable midstream value-chain by uniting academic rigor with industry know-how.”

MISSION

CMMS establishes and grows a cross-discipline industry/university collaboration that ties breakthroughs in upstream access to oil and gas to downstream advances in refining, while delivering data-driven solutions, workforce development, and broad knowledge transfer for the midstream sector.

PRIORITIES

Industry & Academic Partnerships

When industry know-how and academic rigor move in lockstep, the entire midstream sector advances. CMMS is building that alignment on three fronts, solution-oriented research, workforce development, and professional education.

Solution-Oriented Research

Our research focuses on issues that industry has identified as high impact. Commitment to experimentally verified, data-driven methods ensure research activities that meet academic rigor standards and delivers practical impacts.

Workforce Development

We are streamlining pathways that move students from classroom theory into live operating environments, giving them real time exposure to the challenges of pipeline integrity, gas measurement, and emissions monitoring.

Professional Education

CMMS hosts on-campus seminars and short course certificates in areas such as process safety and gas measurement. By inviting practitioners to train alongside students, we create a common technical language.

GOALS

  • Leverage CMMS Resources + Secure External Funding for Research & Education
  • Education: Establish Electives and a Minor for Midstream Science & Engineering
  • Research: Meeting Ground between Industry & Academia
  • Results: Training and Placing Students into Top Positions in the Midstream Sector
